This summer, GOCC is coordinating a cross country road trip to Corvettes at Carlisle (Aug 27-29). If you would like to join us, please contact us through our Officers and Key Personnel Page.
We are still firming up the route and stops, so please check back often for updates.
Notional route:
Day 1 Tues Aug 18 – Kitsap to Missoula, MT (8 hours)
- No Unique Stops – just putting down miles on I-90
- Need to coordinate a rendezvous with Bill B.
Recommended Hotel for the night – Hilton Garden Inn Missoula (3720 N Reserve St, Missoula, MT 59808)
Day 2 Wed Aug 19 – Missoula, MT to Billings, MT (5 hours plus museum stop)
- Deer Lodge is home to the Old Montana Prison & Auto Collection ($20 / open 9am – 5pm)
Recommended Hotel for the night – Best Western Plus Kelly Inn & Sites (4915 Southgate Dr, Billings, MT 59101)
Day 3 Thurs Aug 20 – Billings, MT to Spearfish, SD (5 hours plus stop at Devil’s Tower)
- Potential stop at Little Bighorn (, but it will impact the amount of time we have at Devils Tower)
- Devil’s Tower National Monument
Recommended Hotel for the night – Fairfield Inn & Suites Spearfish
Day 4 Fri Aug 21 – Explore Black Hills (end night in Keystone, SD)
- Recommended Itinerary for those taking scenic and curvy roads in their Corvette – take 14A south to Cheyenne Crossing (Spearfish Canyon – look for mountain goats), then head up to Deadwood. Take Hwy 385 south through Hill City then get on Hwy 87 (Needles Highway). Cut across on Playhouse Rd. to Hwy 16A and follow it north to Keystone (Iron Mountain Road). Have dinner in Keystone (and check in to hotel if time allows) then cruise up to Mt. Rushmore for evening closing ceremony.
- For those who want to take it slow and avoid curves and narrow roads, there is Crazy Horse Monument and lots of bison and prairie dog towns to see in Custer State Park, as well as tons of tourist stops all over the area.
Recommended Hotel for the night – no particular recommendation (Quality Inn / Ramada / Comfort Inn / Baymont) – they are all within walking distance of the strip of shops and restaurants except the Baymont which is way up on the hill overlooking everything. The Ramada does not have free breakfast.
Day 5 Sat Aug 22 – Keystone, SD to Sioux Falls, SD (6 hours plus stops in Badlands)
- We will take time drive through Badlands National Park
Recommended Hotel for the night – Fairfield (4035 Bobhalla Dr, Sioux Falls, SD 57107)

- No unique stops
Recommended Hotel for the night – Hampton Inn McHenry
Day 7 Mon Aug 24 – McHenry, IL to Kalamazoo, MI (4 hours plus museum)
- Since the museum doesn’t open until 10am, recommend getting some laundry done first thing in the morning – Soapbox Laundromat is just north of the hotel
- Volo Museum ($35 / open 10am to 5pm)
Recommended Hotel for the night – TBD (something close to I-94)
Day 8 Tues Aug 25 – Kalamazoo, MI to Cleveland, OH (4 hours)
- Gilmore Car Museum (Hickory Corners, MI) 4 hours ($20 / open 9am to 5pm)
