Glass Odyssey Corvette Club Inspirational Award
The Brad Johanson Award

Brad Johanson was a US Navy Captain who joined the Navy in 1977 and attended Jacksonville University graduating summa cum laude with a chemistry major. He obtained his Master's Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies at the US Naval War College. After serving for over 30 years in the US Navy, he retired in 2008. During his naval career, he was the commanding officer of the VS-29 Dragonflies and of the transport dock USS Denver. A decorated Naval Officer, his distinguished career took him all over the world, including Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and his final assignment as Commanding Officer of the USS Stennis.

Shortly after retiring, he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. He faced the disease with courage and helped raise funds to aid in ALS research. Despite being diagnosed with ALS, he remained positive and never complained. When he could no longer fight his devastating disease, he focused his efforts and energy into helping find a cure. He was, and continues to be, an inspiration to his family, friends, and GOCC members whose lives he touched in his short but incredibly full and meaningful life. Brad was an active member of the Glass Odyssey Corvette Club. At age 53, Brad lost his brave battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
